Perilaku Petani Sebagai Pengambil Keputusan Dalam Mengendalikan Hama Tanaman Kubis Menggunakan Insektisida
The objective of research is to study the farmers behavior in managing their cabbage plant using
insecticides. The result of research will provide important information about farmer behavior in
managing their crops using insecticides. The research activity was held in the cabbage planting
area at Uluere district, Bantaeng Regency, South Sulawesi from October 2017 to January 2018.
The research activities in the form of interviews used questionnaire with the Multi Stage Random
Sampling technique in two villages: Bonto Marannu and Bonto Lojong. The primary data were
obtained by conducting direct interviews with 60 farmers, in each village 30 farmers were selected
as respondents. The result was showed that all farmers (100%) in the two villages used insectide
with the active ingredient emamectin benzoate to control pest insect. Approximately 92% of
farmers used insecticide with active ingredient lambda cyhalothrin, 75% of respondents used
insecticide with active ingredient methomyl and the remaining 50% used insecticide with active
ingredient profenofos, respectively. The conclusion of the research : 1) there are four types of pest
insects attacks cabbage plant: Plutella xylostella, Spodoptera litura, Crocidolomia binotalis and
Agrotis ipsilon, 2) insecticide with active ingredient emamectin benzoate is the main choice of
farmers and widely used to control cabbage pests, 3) farmers still spray their crop with insecticide
although there are no pest insect in the field.
